Ooohhh… Three positives: 1. Synrgy training camp hands down. Giant level-up, and a big kick in the butt to make me go after some long dormant goals. 2. Mountain Mondays. Doing the Seymour climb, week in/ week out, made me see real progress and gave me a whole new understanding of my own capacity for climbing. 3. Riding the ViaRhona and Provence loops in the fall. A funny mix of solo bikepacking and fancy pants travel with bikes… just wonderful end to end.
A negative: 2024 was a pretty great year, honestly. I would say being back of the pack at camp was tough. I had to learn to manage the negative internal chatter, turn it around and move forward — but learning that was transformative and motivating. That experience gave me the fire to really build the rest of the year, to a level of fitness I haven’t enjoyed in decades.
Uh… I’ll go next:
Positives:
1. Recovering from a MAJOR crash
2. My first 70.3 IM
3. Making a major career move
Negatives:
1. HARD hit with an injury in Nov, racing with it in Dec. We’re toast for a while but will Definitely be back 💪
I think your year was all of the place like mine, haha
